MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - Erica Sanders already had two kids of her own when she agreed to be a surrogate mother for two gay men who wanted children.

The Mail Tribune (http://bit.ly/1roKbUr) reports that after giving birth to two health boys, Sanders decided to help others in similar need. So she started the Southern Oregon Surrogacy Center in Medford. She now has eight women who have gone through screening to be gestational surrogates.

Beaverton attorney Robin Pope says surrogacy is on the rise as an alternative to adoption, and there are at least six similar agencies in Oregon, but this is the first of its kind in southern Oregon.
