SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Draper police say they wanted to help after one family reported that burglars stole all the presents under their tree on Christmas Eve.

So department staff pitched in Wednesday and used money left over from a sub for Santa charity campaign to buy new Christmas presents for the family, which includes three children ages 4 through 16.

Draper Police Sgt. Scott Adams says officers weren’t able to get new versions of all the family’s presents since many stores were closed on Christmas Eve, but they knocked on the door with small items and gift cards about 11 p.m.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1xVCiIf) the family was grateful for the replacement gifts.
