HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police say a landslide has blocked both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Interstate 84 just west of Hood River in the Columbia River Gorge.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says a male driver escaped unhurt when his eastbound car crashed into several large boulders during the Wednesday night landslide near mile post 61. The man was not identified.

The spokesman says the boulders and debris slid across the eastbound lanes, pushing the concrete center barrier into one westbound lane.

Oregon Transportation Department crews have responded but there was no immediate estimate on when the lanes would be cleared. In the meantime, travelers were asked to use alternate routes.
