MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - State health officials are planning to take action against a Mexican food restaurant in Mitchell that failed four out of five health inspections last year.

Bill Chalcraft with the South Dakota Department of Health tells The Daily Republic newspaper that there is “pending legal action” against Corona Village. He declined to elaborate.

Restaurant manager Eric Pelayo says the business failed inspections for minor violations, such as an employee leaving a drink cup on a surface meant for food preparation. He says the restaurant accepts responsibility and has been working with the state to resolve issues.

State records show the restaurant also has been docked for uncleanliness and mold.
