LACONIA, N.H. (AP) - It’s been a good year for New Hampshire’s annual World Championship Sled Dog Derby in Laconia.

Plentiful snowfall made for good trails for the weekend race.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch Claude Bellerive of Charette, Quebec, edge out newcomer Jack Trottier of St. Gabriel de Rimouski, Quebec.

Bellerive posted a total time of 2 hours, 41 minutes and 10 seconds to narrowly defeat Trottier, who posted a time of 2:41:37. The six-dog race was won by Jessica Doherty with a time of 57:25.
