SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - Sumter County deputies say a middle school music teacher has been arrested after committing a sex act on a 13-year-old student.

Authorities say they are investigating whether 31-year-old Elizabeth Moss might have had inappropriate contact with other students.

Chestnut Oaks Middle School officials notified the school district after hearing Moss was contacting students on Facebook. The district checked into the messages and called deputies after determining Moss‘ actions appeared to have broken the law.

Investigators say Moss is married. They searched her home for more evidence and their investigation continues.

Moss is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and deputies say additional charges are likely. She is awaiting a bond hearing. Jail officials would not say if she had a lawyer.
