NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Loyola University New Orleans has named Angela Franke as its new coach of the women’s volleyball team.

Director of Athletics and Wellness Dr. Michael Giorlando announced the hiring Thursday.

Franke joins the Wolf Pack after spending two seasons as coach at Mississippi Valley State University, where she guided the team to a first round upset of top-seeded Prairie View A&M; in 2012’s Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament. This past season MVSU defeated defending SWAC champions Jackson State in five thrilling sets in the conference tournament.

Franke previously served as head coach at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C., and McCook Community College in McCook, Neb.
