MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A Missouri pipe manufacturing company says it will not proceed with its plans to build a plant in northern North Dakota.

The Minot Daily News (http://bit.ly/1dbCioA ) reports that United Poly Systems says delays in construction and other unforeseen circumstances led to the project’s cancellation.

The city of Minot last year awarded $800,000 from a development fund to the company based in Springfield, Mo. Part of the sum was to be forgivable if the plant met certain targets for hiring full-time employees. The newspaper reports the money was never used.

The company had planned on building the plant in a 15-acre site. The company had said it had identified a growing market in North Dakota and already had attracted an oilfield customer who uses the pipe for transporting natural gas.
