YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - Families in the New York City suburbs are praying for loved ones amid the Ukraine violence.

The Journal News (http://lohud.us/1mxVEOu ) says an estimated 10,000 Ukrainians live in Westchester County.

A Ukrainian credit union based in Yonkers has raised more than $30,000 in relief aid.

The employees include Nataliya Zhara of New Rochelle. She has told her children to remember what’s happening and to be proud of their heritage.
