DETROIT (AP) - Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan says he considers himself in “good company” with auto pioneer Henry Ford, a leader who also “was called an anti-Semite” but who brought better housing to the people who worked in his factories.

Chicago-based Farrahkan has a long record of making anti-Jewish statements, and he referred to it Sunday afternoon during his Saviours’ Day address at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena.

Farrakhan says Ford helped improve his employees’ living conditions. Ford also promoted the idea that there was a worldwide Jewish conspiracy through his newspaper the Dearborn Independent.

In Detroit last year, Farrakhan denounced “Satanic Jews” and the “synagogue of Satan” that he said controls major U.S. institutions and said President Barack Obama has “surrounded himself with Satan … members of the Jewish community.”
