A man was fatally shot early Sunday in Northeast D.C.

Metropolitan Police Department officials said officers were called to the area of 5th and K streets in Northeast at about 3:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

Officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man had not been identified as of Sunday, pending notification of his family.

Police said their investigation shows that the shooting occurred about three blocks away, in the 400 block of Florida Avenue in Northeast.
