BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick is heading to Costa Rica for a vacation.
Patrick is scheduled to travel to the sunny getaway spot on Tuesday and return to Massachusetts on Sunday.
The vacation comes after Patrick's participation in the two-day National Governors Association winter meeting in Washington.
The trip included a dinner with other governors at the White House with President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama.
Patrick was also slated to meet with top administration officials including Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Patrick's vacation comes as his administration is struggling with a string of challenges, including a trouble-plagued health care website and a family services agency under scrutiny after the disappearance of a 5-year-old Fitchburg boy, now feared dead.
