Texas tough-talking Sen. Ted Cruz made a blanket promise to attendees of a five-year anniversary celebration for the founding of the tea party: We will succeed in repealing Obamacare.
The crowd rose to its feet in cheer, Breitbart.com reported.
Mr. Cruz's specific words: "I am absolutely convinced that we are going to repeal every single word of Obamacare."
Part of his confidence comes from the fact that Democrats are "running fast from Obamacare," he said, Breitbart reported. Even late-night talk show hosts and comedians have issued scathing criticisms of the health care reform rollout, he noted.
Mr. Cruz also insisted that grassroots politicking was far from dead— and that a very Ronald Reagan-esque movement was brewing outside the Beltway, akin to what sprung after the failed presidential policies of Jimmy Carter.
"There is nothing that scares politicians more than the people gathered in this room," Mr. Cruz said, in Breitbart. "Liberty is never safer than when politicians are terrified." He also reminded that the tea party movement "rocketed into existence" and is still "the most exciting political development in decades."
