LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming sophomore guard Josh Adams has been suspended for one game by the Mountain West Conference.

Adams will sit out Wyoming’s game Wednesday night at New Mexico.

The suspension stems from an altercation Adams had with Utah State’s Spencer Butterfield late in the second half on Saturday. Adams appeared to punch Butterfield in the mid-section and Butterfield pushed Adams.

Game referees assessed Adams a flagrant 2 technical foul and ejected him from the game. Butterfield was given a technical foul.

Adams still led Wyoming with 19 points in a 74-57 win.

UW athletics director Tom Burman issued a statement saying the university accepts the punishment and will help Adams learn from the experience.
