INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A winter storm is slowing travel for motorists across Indiana.

The National Weather Service’s Indianapolis forecast office posted on Facebook that up to 2 inches of snow was expected by Tuesday evening across central Indiana while a wintry mix of precipitation was possible for the southeastern third of the state including the cities of Vincennes, Bedford, Seymour, North Vernon, and Greensburg. A winter storm warning is due to remain in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday.

In northern Indiana, the weather service says the highest snowfall totals are expected along and south of U.S. 24 and that some locations may see more than 10 inches of snow.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis says it will remain closed through 5 p.m. Wednesday. Several K-12 schools, mostly across southern Indiana, dismissed early Tuesday.
