JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Traditional license plates in Alaska could get a new look under a bill proposed by a Wrangell lawmaker.

HB293, from Rep. Peggy Wilson, would allow for license plates to have a standing grizzly bear, modeled after the 1976 bicentennial plate.

Not including specialty plates, passenger vehicle license plates are currently required to feature the Alaska flag, traditional colors of yellow-gold and blue and the slogan “The Last Frontier.”
