…WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM

CST THURSDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL

ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM CST

THURSDAY.

* WIND CHILL VALUES…ARE EXPECTED TO DROP INTO THE 15 BELOW TO 18

BELOW ZERO RANGE OVERNIGHT AND CONTINUE UNTIL MID-MORNING ON

THURSDAY.

* WINDS…GUSTY FROM THE NORTH ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH TONIGHT.

HOWEVER…EVEN A LIGHT BREEZE COMBINED WITH THE FRIGID AIR

TEMPERATURES WILL STILL RESULT IN VERY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES.

* IMPACTS…INCLUDE THE POSSIBILITY OF FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA

IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. ANYONE OUTSIDE SHOULD DRESS IN

WARM LAYERS OF CLOTHING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS

WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN

FROSTBITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND

GLOVES.
