TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Highly touted receiver Ermon Lane has signed a letter of intent to play football at Florida State. His signing gives the Seminoles two of the top receiving prospects in the country, along with Travis Rudolph.

Lane, from Homestead (Fla.) High School, is a five-star recruit according to both Rivals.com and Scout.com. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder is ranked in the top five at the position by both recruiting services. Rudolph, from Cardinal Newman (Fla.) High School, is ranked the No. 1 receiver by Rivals.com.

The national champions lost starting receivers Kelvin Benjamin and Kenny Shaw from the highest scoring offense in FBS history. Lane and Rudolph are expected to compete for playing time immediately.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said, “That was one of our areas of need for the future. … Those guys are big-time players and they know we’re going to throw that football.”
