NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - Freezing rain in southern Indiana from the winter storm has contributed to some power outages in the area.

The Indiana counties near Louisville, Ky., had nearly all of the power outages being reported Wednesday morning by the state’s major utilities.

Duke Energy reported about 2,500 outages across Floyd, Clark, Harrison and Crawford counties.

The freezing rain the area prompted the police chief in the Clark County town of Sellersburg to declare a state of emergency on Tuesday because of hazardous road conditions. The police department says that order was lifted overnight and most streets are passable.
