NEW YORK (AP) - The head of New York City’s transit system says about 70 percent of subway stations have been cleaned of snow at least partially.

Carmen Bianco, the president of NYC Transit, says the snow cleanup involves 1,000 workers and is continuing.

He says the 7th Avenue line experienced signal trouble for about 90 minutes Wednesday morning. He says there will be “sporadic problems” throughout the day.

The transit chief says the city’s buses have chains on their wheel and are “performing well.” He says about 85 to 90 percent of the buses are in service.
