JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities report several multi-vehicle crashes during snowfall along Interstate 94 in the Jackson area, including some where motorists are injured.

Jackson County sheriff’s Sgt. Cullen Knoblauch says several police and fire agencies are responding to crashes Wednesday morning. He says there’s no immediate word about the severity of any of the injuries or the number of vehicles involved.

MLive.com reports crashes shut eastbound I-94 in the Jackson area and the westbound side was down to one lane. The area saw several inches of snow Wednesday morning.

Crashes also have closed portions of I-69 in the Flint area.

The winter storm is snarling traffic in other parts of southern Michigan, including the Detroit area. Crashes also are reported the Grand Rapids and Saginaw areas. And slippery roads are reported in Lansing.
