GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Greenville man has pleaded guilty to murder and firearm charges.

The Delta Democrat Times reports (https://bit.ly/1atPcTf ) that Corderro Cooper was scheduled for trial Monday when he pleaded guilty to the 2012 fatal shooting of Christopher Powell.

District Attorney Dewayne Richardson says Powell was shot as he tried to intervene in a domestic violence incident involving Cooper and a Powell family member.

A grand jury in 2013 indicted Cooper on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A sentencing date is pending.
