SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Thieves in San Bernardino have stolen a $200,000 race car that was being modified to hit 200 mph.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported Wednesday (http://bit.ly/1g5A3FH ) that the black 2008 Dodge Challenger and its enclosed transport trailer were reported stolen this week at a speed shop just three blocks from City Hall. The trailer has been found.

Auto theft task forces in San Bernardino and Riverside counties are involved in the search for the pointy nosed racer with a large rear spoiler and Wyoming plates.

The newspaper says search warrants have enabled investigators to raid several locations in the Riverside area. The raids netted six stolen vehicles - but not the race car.

The car’s owner was not named.
