Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Florida Democrat who is also chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, will join Vice President Joseph R. Biden in the presidential delegation attending the state funeral of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the White House said Sunday.

President Obama also selected for the delegation Rep. Eliot Engel, New York Democrat; Daniel Shapiro, the U.S. ambassador to Israel; and Daniel Kurtzer, former U.S. ambassador to Israel.

Mr. Sharon died Saturday at age 85 after eight years in a coma due to a stroke.
A state memorial ceremony is planned for Monday in Israel, with world leaders including Mr. Biden and former British leader Tony Blair. That ceremony will be followed by a funeral procession.
