PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - A teacher at Pineville High School has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a student.

The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/1cdawGN ) Robert Stone, 27, of Alexandria, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on Friday on three counts of prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student.

The Pineville Police Department received a complaint of alleged sexual misconduct involving Stone and a student on Wednesday.

Sgt. Bruce Fairbanks, the public information officer for Alexandria Police, and Sgt. Kimberly Mixon, the public information officer for Pineville Police, said because the investigation is ongoing, they were not allowed to reveal how old the student was or where the alleged sexual encounters took place.

“It happened in our jurisdiction,” Fairbanks said. “That’s all I can say.”

Pineville Principal Karl Carpenter said they was not allowed to comment on Stone’s arrest, and referred all comments to Rapides Parish School Superintendent Nason “Tony” Authement.

“He has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation,” Authement said. “It is a joint investigation. We’re working collaboratively with the police department.”

It was unclear whether Stone has an attorney.
