LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The NCAA has granted Wyoming senior linebacker Devyn Harris and senior defensive lineman Patrick Mertens an extra year of eligibility each.

The sixth year of eligibility was granted by the NCAA to compensate them for missing previous seasons due to injury and illness.

Harris was injured in the 2012 season opener at Texas and missed the remainder of that season. He played this past season, recording 49 tackles and recovering two fumbles.

Mertens missed the entire 2011 season due to a serious illness. He started six games in 2012 and all 12 games last season when he had 34 tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery.

UW also announced on Tuesday that sophomore backup linebacker Zack Berg and junior center Albert Perez have decided to leave Wyoming.
