HENDERSON, N.C. (AP) - The editor of The Daily Dispatch of Henderson has become the newspaper’s new publisher.

According to The Daily Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1aGEGWV ), Rick Bean, the president of the North Carolina division for Paxton Media Group, announced Monday that Alan Wooten will be the new publisher and also retain his current title as editor.

Wooten replaces James Edwards as publisher. Edwards had been the paper’s publisher since 2004 but recently left to become the communications director for Vance-Granville Community College.

Wooten joined The Daily Dispatch as editor in 2012. Prior to working in Henderson, Wooten had worked at a number of North Carolina papers including the Sun Journal of New Bern, The Wilson Times, the Kinston Free Press, The Daily News of Jacksonville, The Daily Reflector of Greenville and The Ashe Mountain Times.
