‘Lincoln’ movie exhibition opens at Lincoln Museum

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - An exhibition about the award-winning movie “Lincoln” will open Friday at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Museum officials say film director Steven Spielberg generally doesn’t often preserve sets from his movies but “Lincoln” was so special he made an exception.

The sets, costumes and props arrived at the museum as a loan from Spielberg and DreamWorks Studios.

Museum officials call the exhibit “long-term” and expect it to stay for at least five years.

Most of the furniture pieces in the exhibit are antiques from the Civil War era, not reproductions.

Spielberg has said he wanted the set to re-create Abraham Lincoln’s world as completely as possible, so that the movie cameras and monitors were the only modern intrusions during filming.
