MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities are continuing to search for five or six suspects who used sledgehammers to rob a jewelry store at a crowded Memphis mall.

A police spokeswoman said in an email that the suspects entered Reeds Jewelers in Wolfchase Galleria around 7:39 p.m. on Saturday and began smashing display cases with hammers. Police say the men took about 65 Rolex watches and stuffed the items into pillow cases.

No injuries were reported. Despite earlier reports, police determined there were no shots fired, and no weapons were seen.

The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/19EUWZY) reports the robbers used two exits near the jewelry store to escape.

The watches were valued at $11,000 apiece.

The disturbance happened about an hour before closing at the mall situated next to a country club east of downtown Memphis.
