KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Amway President Doug DeVos has steered Quantum Racing to two first-place finishes to take the lead in the 52 class at the Quantum Key West 2014 sailing regatta off the Florida Keys.

DeVos and tactician Terry Hutchinson made the most of light breezes Monday during the first of five scheduled days of racing.

Skype co-founder Niklas Zennstrom placed second, skippering Swedish-flagged vessel Ran.

Last year’s 52-class winner, Italian-flagged Azzurra, is in third. Azzurra is co-owned by pharmaceutical mogul Pablo Roemmers.

Alex Schaerer’s Caol Ila R, a 69-foot American boat, led the Mini Maxi Class with first and second finishes. Bermuda skipper Alec Cutler has Hedgehog atop the Melges 32 class.

Crews aboard 123 boats are divided into 10 classes.
