OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Former Republican state Rep. Shane Jett says he plans to run for the U.S. House seat being vacated by Rep. James Lankford.

The 39-year-old from Tecumseh said he made his decision Monday and told The Associated Press: “We are in.”

Jett was a three-term member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010 and left the House to run for Congress. He finished fourth in a seven-way GOP primary that included Lankford.

Lankford announced Monday he was leaving his seat after two terms to run for the U.S. Senate, and several prominent Republicans have said they’re interested in his seat.

The district includes nearly all of Oklahoma County and Seminole and Pottawatomie counties to the east.
