BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - Albanian striker Besart Berisha will leave Brisbane at the end of the current season to join A-League rival Melbourne Victory.

Brisbane coach Mike Mulvey said the club had fought hard to retain Berisha, who has scored 41 goals in 65 A-League games, but could not fit him under the salary cap.

Victory coach Kevin Muscat managed to top bids from other A-League clubs, including Newcastle and Sydney FC, to win Berisha’s signature.

Muscat said “Besart has been performing at the highest level week-in, week-out for Brisbane and has caused plenty of headaches for opposition defenders and coaches, including myself.”
