Authorities have identified the alleged gunman who shot and killed two employees of a skate shop Saturday at a shopping mall in suburban Maryland on Saturday, before killing himself.

Police said it took a while to identify Darion Marcus Aguilar, 19, of College Park, Md., as the deceased shooter because of fears he might be “booby-trapped” with additional ammunition on his body.

It is unclear at this time what relation, if any, he had to the two victims in the case.

Howard County Police said the shooting occurred in the Zumiez store above the food court on the upper level of The Mall in Columbia at around 11:15 a.m.

Police late Saturday afternoon identified the victims as Brianna Benlolo, 21, of College Park and Tyler Johnson, 25, of Ellicott City.

The shooting created panic at the mall and drew officers from departments around the region as well as federal agencies. People were directed out of the mall and into a parking lot, where some boarded a bus and others walked toward their cars. Some people were seen crying.
