WACO, Texas (AP) - One construction worker is dead after a construction boom to which they were tethered collapsed into the Brazos River as they worked on a bridge to the new Baylor University stadium.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton says the accident happened about 4 p.m. Tuesday as the two worked on construction of a pedestrian bridge between the Baylor campus and the new McLane Stadium.

Swanton says one worker was able to free himself from his harness and was rescued, but the other failed to surface. His body was found about 8 p.m. Tuesday. No identities have been released.
