DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware doctor accused of participating in illegal drug sales on the underground website known as Silk Road has pleaded not guilty in federal court.

Alexandra Gold entered the plea Thursday, one month after her public defenders indicated they were working with prosecutors to try to resolve the case without a trial.

Gold and her live-in partner, Dr. Olivia Bolles, were indicted on charges of maintaining a dwelling for drugs. The two gynecologists were charged after federal agents in Florida tracked shipments of drugs bought on the website to Delaware.

Bolles remains in custody. Gold, suspended from her position as an instructor at Johns Hopkins University’s medical school in Baltimore, is out on bond. Authorities say Gold told investigators she helped Bolles package drugs for shipment.
