NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - The International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport has received the OK to build a new tennis complex.

The Newport Daily News reports the zoning board of review approved a variance this week for the project, which includes indoor and outdoor courts, a fitness center, locker rooms, offices and retail space.

The board previously approved the demolition of four buildings at the site.

The new complex plans to include 32,555 square feet of space. It will be built in the same shingle-style architecture used in the Hall of Fame’s Casino building. The Casino complex is a National Historic Landmark.

The Hall of Fame says the construction project will take up to two years, and demolition could start in May or June.
