ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - A Texas university is warning a Buffalo Bills fan against using the phrase “12th Man” in efforts to keep the Bills in Buffalo once the team’s sold.

Texas A&M; University says it sent a cease-and-desist letter against the owner of 12thManThunder.com in May because “12th Man” is a trademarked phrase that the university has used since 1922 to signify fan support. The letter was followed this week by a formal complaint.

Bills fan Charles “Chuckie” Sonntag of Orchard Park says he’s changed the name of the website to “BillsFanThunder.com” but still fears a lawsuit.

University officials say they’re optimistic it won’t come to that.

Sonntag and some friends established the website to give fans a voice during the sale of the Buffalo Bills following the death of owner Ralph Wilson.
