BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Kentucky baseball player AJ Reed and Florida softball player Hannah Rogers have been named the league’s male and female athletes of the year.

The SEC athletic directors voted on the awards, released on Tuesday.

Reed won several national player of the year awards after leading the nation with 23 home runs and topping the SEC with 12 wins as a pitcher. He is the first player in league history to lead the conference in homers and wins.

Rogers led Florida to its first national championship in softball. She was named the Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player after earning four complete-game wins with three shutouts and a save.

She finished her college career as the NCAA’s active career leader with 127 wins, including a 30-8 record as a senior.
