CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Coastal Carolina running back Lorenzo Taliaferro and Winthrop women’s basketball guard Dequesha McClanahan were voted the Big South Conference’s student athletes of the year.

The conference office announced the male and female award winners Thursday. The two came out on top of voting from the league’s athletic directors, senior administrators and sports information directors.

Taliaferro led the Big South with 1,487 yards rushing to help Coastal Carolina win a second-straight league crown and finish with a 12-3 record.

McClanahan was the Big South player of the year the past three seasons and set all-time league marks with 2,277 points and 744 assists. She helped Winthrop to its first league conference title and NCAA tournament trip.
