MADISON, Conn. (AP) - Hillary Clinton came to Connecticut to sign copies of her new book, bringing out fans and critics.

The former secretary of state signed copies of her memoir, “Hard Choices,” at R.J. Julia Booksellers in Madison on Saturday.

The New Haven Register reports (http://bit.ly/1k3ylvt ) that more than 1,000 people lined the streets for a chance to meet the former U.S. senator, first lady and possible 2016 candidate for president.

Retailers in Madison’s town center said they were disappointed the event wasn’t staged elsewhere because crowds at the bookseller kept shoppers away from other stores.

About 100 protesters across the street from the bookstore questioned Clinton’s role during and immediately after the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012. The U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed.
