DETROIT (AP) - Workers and executives from six Detroit companies will lace up their sneakers this week for the third annual Live Downtown Games.

Opening ceremonies include an obstacle course run Monday in Campus Martius Park. Volleyball and table tennis events are scheduled in the afternoon and evening.

The games celebrate the anniversary of Live Downtown. The five-year, more than $4 million program seeks to increase density by offering financial incentives to people who work downtown to invest in homes in nearby neighborhoods.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Compuware, DTE Energy, Marketing Associates, Quicken Loans and Strategic Staffing Solutions are taking part in the event.

Competitions run through Friday. They will be held during lunch hours and after the end of the work day.
