JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jackson Police Chief Lindsey Horton has retired.

In a news release Monday, Mayor Tony Yarber says Assistant Chief of Police Lee Vance will serve as interim police chief. Vance has been in law enforcement since 1987.

Horton served nearly 30 years with the Jackson Police Department.

No reason was given in the news release for Horton’s decision.
