MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The status of waterfowl populations and hunting seasons on and along Lake Champlain will be discussed at two publics meetings next month in Vermont and New York.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will hold its meeting on Aug. 5 at the Skenesborough Rescue Squad building in Whitehall, New York. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department meeting takes place the following day, Aug. 6, in Essex at Memorial Hall. Both meetings run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hunters are encouraged to attend and provide input to Vermont and New York officials.

Officials say under federal law, waterfowl seasons, bag limits, and shooting hours must be uniform in the Lake Champlain Zone.
