WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) - The Milwaukee County sheriff’s office has released the name of a 14-year-old boy who drowned while swimming in a Milwaukee-area river over the weekend.

Authorities identify the victim as Van Sang Vanmauipial of Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee County medical examiner’s office says the teen had a pulse when he was pulled from the river Saturday afternoon. But he died at a hospital later in the day.

He and other children had been swimming in the Menomonee River at Hoyt Park in Wauwatosa. Witnesses say the teen went under and didn’t come up.
