PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Visitors to Petersburg soon will be able to take trolley tours of the city’s historic sites.

Petersburg Area Transit and the National Park Service are partnering on the project. The Progress-Index (http://bit.ly/1lljd7k ) reports that park service personnel will provide interpretations of the sites’ historical significance.

Three trolleys will provide tours along routes that begin at Southside Depot and end at the Petersburg National Battlefield. Another trolley will shuttle riders during Friday for the Arts!.

The Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration provided grants totaling $746,000 to build the 34-seat trolleys and pay for their first year of operation.
