BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - The town of Brattleboro is considering Green Mountain Power’s request to tear down its service center in town and build a new one.

Utility spokeswoman Dorothy Schnure told the Brattleboro Reformer that the building on Route 30 is outdated and cramped.

She said work on the $2.1 million project would likely start in 2015 if all of the permits are approved.

GMP has 16 service centers in Vermont. The Brattleboro one is its oldest.

The Brattleboro Development Review Board is expected to consider GMP’s application at its meeting on Monday.
