House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that Israel has not lost its moral authority in the ongoing conflict in Gaza but that she hopes the fighting can be stopped.
"Israel accepted the cease-fire. Hamas did not. So if you want peace, that's one thing. If you want conflict, as Hamas seems to do, you are in the driver's seat, and you can make the opponent look terrible," she told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
Mrs. Pelosi said she doesn't believe Israel has lost its moral authority, but that "this is an unfortunate situation which should come to an end."
The AP reported Tuesday that an Israeli soldier has gone missing in the ongoing conflict in Gaza and that the more than two weeks of fighting has now claimed the lives of at least 600 Palestinians and 29 Israelis.
"Thank God for the Iron Dome and the funding we have for that — if we get a supplemental [spending bill] soon, we'll probably increase the funding for Iron Dome to enhance Israel's ability to defend itself" in the hope that fighting ceases, she said.
