Libertarian radio host Neal Boortz came to Hillary Clinton’s defense on Tuesday after the potential presidential candidate came under fire in recent weeks for defending a child rapist during her lawyer days in the 1970s.

Mrs. Clinton has faced criticism for helping a sex predator avoid a lengthy prison term when she was a defense attorney in 1975. She has defended herself in saying that it was her obligation to represent the man, regardless of if she approved of him.

Mr. Boortz, a former attorney, agreed, arguing that the former secretary of state was only doing her duty in upholding the Constitution.

“Government has one power that you do not: The government can use deadly force to accomplish its goals,” he said during his show Tuesday. “But to do that the government must accuse you of a crime and then convince a jury of your peers that you did in fact commit that crime.

“Who stands between us and the government when it comes to this situation? The criminal defense attorney. In this regard, Hillary Clinton was protecting the Constitution,” he said.

“Defense attorneys are heroes, even when they represent the most heinous criminals out there,” Mr. Boortz said.
