COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Kids attending a summer camp conducted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are getting a special treat.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Leon Lott says some members of the men’s basketball team at the University of South Carolina are working out with attendees at the “Stars of Tomorrow” camp at Burnside Elementary School.

Lott says the Gamecock players will talk to campers, run a few drills and sign autographs. The sheriff says it’s a good chance for students to talk to top athletes and learn about how they became successful.

Lott says his department holds six camps each year.
