DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - The Henry Ford history attraction in suburban Detroit is hosting a festival that celebrates arts, crafts, engineering and technology.

Maker Faire Detroit is celebrating its fifth year, with events planned Saturday and Sunday in Dearborn. More than 100 new tinkerers, hackers and inventors are expected to be among more than 400 “makers” at the festival, which is billed as fun for the whole family.

To celebrate the Moog synthesizer, The Henry Ford will be hosting “Close Encounters of the Synth Kind,” a special presentation during Maker Faire Detroit. The Henry Ford, located in Dearborn, includes Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum.

The flagship Maker Faire takes place in California. The first Grand Rapids Mini Maker Faire is scheduled for Aug. 30-31 at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
